Tax Tips: GST for secondhand goods if purchased from an unregistered seller The IRD defines secondhand goods as goods previously used and paid for by someone else. It does not include: New goods Primary produce (unless previous used) Goods supplied under a lease or rental agreement Livestock Remember also that according to the IRD’s recent clarification, land is also classified as second-hand goods! Tax Stuff from Hamilton Chartered Accountants -Time Periods for Tax Refunds

There's some changes happening in at the IRD. The time period for claims claiming your tax refunds has changed. It used to be that tax refunds had to be made within a 4 year period of the end of the income year a return was filed in, with an additional 4 year period available if the refund was due to a clear mistake or an honest oversight on your part.
